All coordinators, bookkeepers and managers report to a senior CANOE staff member with 10+ years of operations leadership experience. We also review and discuss the needs of each nonprofit partner as a team.

 

These practices result in comprehensive support for your organization and reduce the time you spend on oversight.

How it works

For each nonprofit partner, we create an affordable “package” of support that can be modified as needed over time.

 

Each partner works with a custom CANOE team that can quickly jump in and begin managing and strengthening their internal operations. The types of support and hours per week may vary, depending on the needs of the organization.

 

The people on the team may include: 

  • a COO / CFO to advise on strategy and complex projects, as well as oversee all aspects of operations;

  • a coordinator who manages day-to-day administrative tasks;

  • a bookkeeper and/or accountant to manage routine financial activities, including the filing of 990s;

 

  • ad hoc expertise, including DEI assessments and consulting, HR or accounting advice, Spanish translations, etc.

Operations Coordinator

Operations Manager

  • Managing recruitment, hiring and onboarding

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements

Bookkeeper

  • Setting up & managing accounting system (i.e. Quickbooks online)

  • Reconciling bank and/or credit card accounts

  • Providing monthly financial statements

  • Tracking revenue and recording payments

  • Paying vendors and issuing 1099s

HR or Finance Director

  • Advising and managing more complex projects in the areas of HR or accounting;

  • For HR Director, developing performance reviews, employee engagement and survey strategies, difficult employee relations matters;

  • For Finance Director, developing or refining budgeting strategies, filing of 990s, switching accounting systems.

Chief Operating and/or Financial Officer

  • Developing and rolling out new policies, procedures, and handbooks
